Atomic: Captures cause explosions destroying nearby pieces
Fog of War: You can only see squares your pieces control
Portal Chess: Purple squares teleport pieces to other portals
Zombie Chess: Captured pieces return as zombies for opponent
Freeze Tag: Queens can freeze opponent pieces
Horde: White has 36 pawns vs Black's normal army
Three Check: Win by giving check 3 times
Antichess: Must capture when possible, lose all pieces to win
Racing Kings: Race your king to the 8th rank first
Benedict: Convert adjacent enemy pieces after moving
Magnetic: Pieces attract to each other after moves

All standard chess rules apply including castling, en passant, and pawn promotion. Each variant adds its own unique twist while keeping the core game intact.
